Pine Grove Vixen - An In The Pines, Prequel Short - Promo Stills 2

Here are several promo stills from Moon Rabbit Media’s upcoming short film Pine Grove Vixen.

Pine Grove Vixen, directed by Seth F. Johnson, is a prequel short to Moon Rabbit Media’s supernatural thriller In the Pines and sets the backstory of the feature into motion. Russell Dubois (David Kallaway), an avid bowhunter, is following a blood trail deep into the pine groves of south Georgia when he encounters a tracker and fellow bowhunter Trip Wallace (Frank Monteleone). Trip, a peculiar man, has been accidentally tracking Russell and the prey Russell has just shot. To Russell’s annoyance, Trip inserts himself into the situation and offers to help him. As the two men move through the woods, a series of mysterious things happen and the weather worsens. Caught in the rain and now losing light, Trip becomes nervous about his new hunting partner and what Russell may have been doing before they met. Just as night is about to fall, the men discover a foxhole at the base of a giant pine tree where they are forced to set up camp. The men deal with the miserable situation by drinking their way through several flasks of whiskey and the relationship between them improves. They start throwing a hatchet at the giant tree to scare the fox out, but this only makes their situation worse, when the Forest Vixen (Merrik Foune) decides to make her presence known and it quickly becomes apparent that she is the one doing the hunting.

Soldier's Heart: Original Soundtrack (2020) OST

Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for Moon Rabbit Media's Soldier's Heart (2020).

The creation of the score for Soldier's Heart (2020) was an extremely collaborative process. The film's director, Seth F. Johnson, started speaking with the composer nine months before the first day of production on the film even began. Seth was very interested in using a few key instruments and sounds such as bells, chimes, and crystal bowls. They were focused on creating a score that sounded very organic and conveyed all of the necessary emotions while still fitting in the post-Civil War period. The final result is a score that perfectly complements the film and its message.

Moon Rabbit Media - Savannah Safe Pledge

Moon Rabbit Media has taken the Savannah Safe Pledge to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

We have accepted the challenge from the City of Savannah to ensure we operate under the following protocols:

• We offer a wide variety of virtual meetings such as Zoom calls, teleconferences, look-books, and virtual presentations.

• All crew members wear an N95 Mask to meetings and onset.

• We regularly wash and sanitize our hands throughout the days shoot and to all meetings.

• For studio work we reduce occupancy so there are never too many people on set.

• Lastly we abide by all orders and directives issued by government and public health officials.

Moon Rabbit Media - On Camera Interviews

One of our favorite things to film at Moon Rabbit Media is a classic two-camera interview.

Before every interview, we always remind our clients that we at Moon Rabbit Media are on their side.

We understand that many people are not accustomed to appearing on camera and we want all our interviewees to feel as comfortable and natural as possible.

Trust us when we say that we will edit everything together in a way that successfully gets your message across and makes you and your company look amazing.

We keep things fun and engaging and our interviewer always has a list of fantastic questions to ask our subjects.

The images below are from a two-camera interview setup using dual Sony a7RIII cameras with Sony GM 24-70mm and 70-200mm lenses. Our sound mixer had the interviewees miked with a lav mic as well as an overhead boom.

Downtown Savannah, GA - Drone Footage

Moon Rabbit Media hits the streets of downtown Savannah, GA for a busy day of filming drone footage and b-roll. We shot the footage on a DJI Mavic Pro 2 and used the back of our truck as a launchpad when we were in tight spaces downtown. Our crew were all on walkie and Moon Rabbit Media’s FAA-Certified Part 107 Commercial Drone Operator had two visual observers to help him navigate the streets of Savannah when flying the drone. February is a great time for aerial photography as the cold weather keeps the humidity down which maximizes the clarity of footage when we are flying.

Interview - MovieMaker Magazine - Best Places to Live and Work as a Moviemaker 2016: Top 10 Small Cities and Towns

MovieMaker Magazine interviews Moon Rabbit Media’s Seth F. Johnson about living and working in Savannah, GA. Click the image to see the full article.

We spoke to Seth F. Johnson, a recent SCAD grad with a BFA in Film and Television, who is working on a film that will air on TV One.

“There is a fantastic group of filmmakers already living here,” he says. “When I got on my current set, I already knew about a third of the crew. The Savannah Film Office has always been very accommodating, and even took the time to help me find locations while I was an undergraduate. On this film, they have been able to assist me with arranging picture cars, shutting down streets, and even notifying the Coast Guard about our need to fire a flare gun.”

Johnson also loves Savannah’s rich visual possibilities, including the nation’s largest historical district, an urban evergreen forest and boundless coastal and rural settings. “In February of 2015, I directed a short film called ‘One Traveler Too Many,’ which I shot in the historic district. Since the film was set in the 1890s, I was able to utilize the brick roads and the old Victorian homes. Then, in summer, I shot a short drama about three young adults on a sailing adventure called ‘Death of a Dream.’ I only had to travel 15 minutes down the road, and I was able to film in the marsh and in and around the islands.”
